Helena Donato-Sapp

Helena Lourdes Donato-Sapp is a 14-year-old activist, scholar, artist, and speaker who believes that it is urgent for young people like her to understand and be empowered to confront critical issues like anti-Blackness, ableism, Queerphobia, misogyny, and climate change, among so many others. Guided by her experience, family values, and intersecting identities, her work as a teen scholar-activist is currently focused on Disability Justice, anti-bullying, Black girlhood, and decolonizing education. She has published academic chapters and articles in books and peer-reviewed journals and magazines, exhibited art in museums, and spoken to audiences nationwide. Marianina
Singer/Songwriter
Born and raised in Mexico, Marianina is not afraid to use her music to speak up. She based herself in LA only a couple years ago, but her work goes all the way back to the 90’s in her hometown Colima, in the west coast of Mexico, where she performed musical theatre since the age of 9 and published short stories and poems in local magazines. Marianina's work is embedded with her intense personal journey, as she is a self-taught musician who, like many other fellow latinos, had to cross the border to be close to family and to be able to pursue her dreams. Her work has inspired action from other artists and activists to join her in solidarity with causes like the women led revolution of Iran, the right to safe abortion, and many others. Her commitment to social justice has earned her a loyal following in platforms like Instagram and TikTok. She released five more songs in 2022 and is currently working on her EP “Suavecita y Peligrosa”, a latin urban pop influenced by her tropical roots and cultural ambiguity, in which she fearlessly unleashes her characteristic upbeat music and unapologetic lyrics.
